Tangram puzzles originated in Imperial China during the Tang Dynasty, and have become the most popular dissection puzzle in the world. Traditional Tangrams always use the same 7 shapes which can be arranged to produce thousands of unique patterns, some quite difficult to reproduce!

If you have our Large Tangrams set, you can use these patterns to play. Print them out at 100% size, and you’ll be able to arrange the pieces on top of the patterns.

Our set of tangram puzzles includes two versions of each pattern, an “easy” version for younger children (ages 2-5) who are just learning to make patterns with shapes, and a “challenging” version where the shape outlines are not visible.
